This is experienced by TikTok user from Singapore, Jesslyne Lee. Reporting from his TikTok account (25/05), Lee shared his experience eating hotpot at the Northpoint branch of the Haidilao restaurant on May 13.

At that time he was celebrating Mother’s Day with his mother, and ordered several meals until his total bill reached SGD 105 (Rp 1.1 million). However, an error occurred when a Haidilao employee entered the wrong number on the payment machine.

It should have been SGD 105 but it became SGD 1.05 (Rp 11,000). Without double checking, Lee immediately paid with his American Express credit card. It wasn’t until he left the restaurant that he realized the employee had entered the wrong number.

“We immediately decided to come back, because we were afraid that the employee would be in trouble because the price difference was too great. When we told him there was a mistake, the employee was surprised because he was also not aware of making a mistake,” explained Lee.

“The employee immediately said thank you, because we were honest and returned to pay the rest. If not, the shortfall will be deducted from his salary,” continued Lee.

As an expression of gratitude from the restaurant for Lee’s honesty, he received several discount vouchers.

“All the employees there gathered, and thanked us for returning the money. They also apologized,” concluded Lee. This honest action received a lot of praise from netizens.

Moreover, the bill amount is not cheap, so some people may use the employee’s mistakes to their advantage. By not paying the rest.

Previously a similar story also occurred in Singapore. This time it happened at a dim sum shop on Tampines Street, the owner was confused because he received IDR 49.8 million. It turned out that this money came from one of the buyers who over-entered the numbers when he was going to pay, which should have been only IDR 498,000.
