Cristiano Ronaldo is claimed not to be outdone by Lionel Messi in terms of salary. This obsession made CR7’s relationship with Jorge Mendes tenuous.
Ronaldo and Mendes ended their working relationship in early 2023. This split was allegedly Mendes’ dislike of his client’s controversial interview with Piers Morgan.
Ronaldo left Manchester United after the interview and joined Al Nassr. He gets a fantastic fee of 200 million euros per year from the Saudi Arabian club.

Latest report El Mundo claims that Cristiano Ronaldo does not want to be rivaled by Lionel Messi’s salary. This obsession has even occurred since CR7 wore Real Madrid’s uniform and La Pulga defend Barcelona.
Ronaldo received information on Messi’s salary from Barcelona president at the time, Josep Maria Bartomeu. LM10 has twice the income of the Portuguese star.
“I can’t tell you, but it was more than double what they were [Real Madrid] pay it to you,” Bartomeu told Ronaldo in 2018, quoted from El Mundo.
Ronaldo then left Real Madrid and joined Juventus. He got a big salary increase in Turin, around 500 thousand euros per week or 31 million euros per year which makes CR7 the highest paid player in Bianconeri.

Ronaldo’s move to Juventus was not approved by his agent, Jorge Mendes. He considered that his client could add to the Ballon d’Or title if he stayed at Real Madrid.
This transfer was the beginning of the rift between Cristiano Ronaldo and Mendes. The five-time Ballon d’Or winner no longer has Mendes as his agent ahead of his move from Manchester United to Al Nassr.
