Kudela has become a new idol at Persija thanks to the good performance he gave in Liga 1.
Ondrej Kudela showed an impressive performance with Persija Jakarta this season. However, he admitted that the process of adapting to the club was not easy.
Persija became the first Indonesian and even Southeast Asian club to be defended by Kudela. So far, he has mostly strengthened his home country team, the Czech Republic.
Despite embarking on a new adventure, Kudela immediately assumed an important task. He is always trusted to fill a place in the Persija defense.
Of the ten matches played by Persija in Liga 1 2022/24, Kudela has always played since the early minutes. He was never replaced by another player until the game was over.
“The biggest problem is adapting to the weather. The difference compared to the Czechs is huge. Getting used to the humidity isn’t easy. You walk on a street where it’s incredibly hot, you feel like you’re roasting in the sun, and the air is humid,” Kudela told reporters. iSport.
“But we knew that before. I was very happy with the mentality of the local people. I don’t have anyone who doesn’t want to help me. All good people help. Religion also plays a big role here, most of the players are Muslim. So they pray before training, after training, before eating, after eating. I just sat watching,” Kudela added.
In addition, Kudela told about the madness of Persija fans, The Jakmania. He admitted that he was amazed by the welcome he received when he first set foot in the country.
“What are they doing here? I’m not a star player. But that’s how they greeted me. When I arrived at the airport, the manager told me the fans were waiting. When I came out of the airport door, they all shouted Jakmania, my head was spinning. Then I understand that they are very passionate about football.”
