However, this success did not come easily for Leao. The 23-year-old admitted that he had experienced difficult times at the club AC Milan.
It happened in his first two seasons with Il Diavolo. He has to adapt because he gets more attention AC Milan than in Lille. Leao can only score six goals in Serie A 2019/2020 and 2020/2021 each.
Leao revealed that there were three figures who helped him through this difficult situation. The three figures are his family, Milan coach Stefano Pioli and Zlatan Ibrahimovic.
Ibrahimovic had a crucial role in helping Leao adapt to Milan. The Swedish striker gave Leao a lot of input.
“In that period my family, coaches Pioli and Ibra, who were close to me every day, were very important,” said Rafael Leao, quoted by Football Italia.
“Zlatan is an example, he taught me the importance of asking questions, always being focused, even off the pitch. We talk whenever we can, not as professionals or colleagues, but as men,” he said.
