Deadly Accident Truck Collisions BTS Pole in Bekasi, Most Victims are Elementary School Children

A trailer truck accident hit a BTS pole in Bekasi, killing 10 people and injuring 20 others. Police said most of the victims were children.

“Most of the victims are children, because this hates Kota Baru Elementary School 2 and 3, they are waiting,” said the Director of Lantas Polda Metro Jaya Kombes Latif Usman at the crash site, Wednesday (31/8/2022).

Latif said the children were waiting to be picked up.

“Suddenly a truck hit a pole and hit the bus stop,” he added.

30 Victims: 10 Killed and 20 Injured

Previously, Latif said the accident victims based on provisional data reached 30 people. A total of 10 victims died and 20 were injured.

“The victims are all 30, 10 died, 20 were injured, hopefully there will be no further additions,” he said.

A truck hit a pole near an elementary school on Jalan Sultan Agung, Kranji, Bekasi. Conditions at the location were crowded with people after the accident.

The photo of the crash site was uploaded to the Twitter account @TMCPoldaMetro as seen on Wednesday (30/8/2022). TMC Polda Metro said the pole that was hit by the trailer truck was a BTS pole.

“There was an accident that a BTS pole collapsed and hit a vehicle on Jl. Sultan Agung Kota Baru, West Bekasi. It is currently being handled by traffic accident officers in Bekasi City,” tweeted the Twitter account @TMCPoldaMetro.

There are three photos shared by Polda Metro’s TMC account. In the first photo, the pole appears to be hitting a vehicle. There were also several residents in the vicinity of the accident site.

The second photo shows the scene at the crash site from another angle. Meanwhile, in the third photo, a truck appears near the pole location. There are several items scattered near the location.
