REPUBLIKA.CO.ID, JAKARTA — Two leaders of Islamic boarding schools (Ponpes) in Sikur District, East Lombok, West Nusa Tenggara were arrested on suspicion of sexual violence against 41 female students. Both, namely LMI (43 years) and HSN (50) who are leaders of Islamic boarding schools.

The two perpetrators are alleged to have committed sexual violence against 41 Islamic boarding school students in the period up to 2023. Three victims have filed police reports regarding the lecherous acts of the two Islamic boarding school leaders.

“Currently, the perpetrator has been named a suspect and detained by the East Lombok Police,” said the Deputy for Special Protection for Children of the Ministry of PPPA, Nahar in his statement, Thursday (25/5/2023).

Nahar emphasized that this case occurred with the mode of including “promise to go to heaven” through “sex study”. This act is a crime against human dignity that cannot be tolerated and deserves severe punishment. The alleged perpetrator viciously committed sexual violence with victims aged 16-17 years.

“The alleged perpetrator is an educator in the religious field, not only protecting children but also supposed to lead children to good and right actions. In this case, the alleged perpetrator actually violated it by committing a crime of sexual violence against his students,” said Nahar.
