BANDUNG, KOMPAS.com -West Java Governor Ridwan Kamil emphasized that he would not take part in the 2024 Legislative Election (Pileg).
This means that he will only compete in the 2024 Pilkada.
He conveyed this in response to West Java Deputy Governor Uu Ruzhanul Ulum’s plan to participate in next year’s Legislative Election.
“I’m not. I’m not running for legislature. I’ve served 10 years as an executive, five years as mayor, five years as governor. So if there’s a break, I’m very happy. Because I’ve never had personal time either. And I’ve allowed my wife too I am to participate at the legislative level,” said Emil, Ridwan’s nickname, at the Pakuan Building, Bandung City, West Java, Thursday (25/5/2023).

Emil said continuing the second period in West Java was a realistic choice. However, he did not rule out the possibility of contesting in the DKI Jakarta Pilkada.
“So my option is to continue with the (West Java) governorship, later in November (2024) between West Java or DKI, both surveys are good,” he said.
Emil said that until now there had been no directives from the leadership of the Golkar Party regarding his political steps next year. According to him, a final decision will be made in February 2024.
“There is no party blessing yet because later after February (Pileg and Presidential Election 2024). But if we talk today, the surveys for the two provinces are good,” said Emil.

When asked about the chance to take part in the 2024 presidential election, Emil still adheres to political principles of self-knowledge. Because, he said, national politics will continue to be dynamic until the last moment.
“I have to know myself, I can’t make a statement when I talk nationally. But I realize that national politics will be dynamic until the last second. Until the last second, there will be lots of breaking news, lots of twists and turns, and things I don’t understand. “I know myself as a party member following today’s existing decision,” he explained.
