The Village Head in Seluma is Examined by the Bengkulu Regional Police in a Case of Defamation

BENGKULUEKSPRESS.COM – A village head (Kades) in Seluma Regency with the initials NN (51) was reported by his own residents to the Bengkulu Regional Police regarding defamation on social media some time ago.

Nn is known to have posted an article that allegedly defamed NV, who in this case was the reporter, a resident of Semidang Alas, Seluma Regency.

Based on NV’s report, investigators from the Bengkulu Regional Police’s Sub-Directorate V of the Cyber ​​Crime Directorate summoned NN, who is the village head in Semidang Alas, Seluma Regency.

The Director of Special Criminal Investigation Unit of the Bengkulu Regional Police through Panit I Siber Ditreskrimsus of the Bengkulu Regional Police AKP Welliwanto Malau confirmed the summons or examination of NN.

“It’s true, we summoned witnesses against a village head in Semidang Alas, Seluma to ask for clarification on the report of a resident with the initials NV,” said AKP Welliwanto Malau, Friday (26/5/2023).

He continued, this examination or classification was carried out on the basis of a report submitted to the reporting party NV to the Bengkulu Regional Police regarding the ITE Law.

“This is about defamation on social media. So we are following up on the report and we are processing it, because the object summary is Information Technology and Electronics. That’s why

today was summoned and is undergoing examination, “he continued.

Not only the village head, other witnesses will also be summoned, said Malau. The reason is, to find out the circumstances of the case and the report made by the complainant, his party must summon other witnesses.

“Later we will also summon other witnesses to find out the flow of the next mechanism and we will hold a case,” he concluded.

Meanwhile, the reported NN accompanied by his attorney Hartanto when confirmed explained that the act of defamation that he had directed at NV was not true.
