INIPASTI.COM, MALUKU – The Inspector General of the Ministry of Agriculture (Irjen Kementan), Jan Samuel Maringka visited the Moa buffalo farm in Southwest Maluku Regency, Maluku Province. This visit is part of a series of work by the Ministry of Agriculture in closely monitoring food availability in eastern Indonesia.

“We want all related parties and ranks to mutually strengthen collaboration for our food security so that it will be even stronger in the future,” said Jan, Thursday, November 24, 2022.

As an illustration, the moa buffalo or Si Raja Lumpur is a germplasm native to the Maluku region which is spread across the Leti Islands. Moa lakor are three large islands in the Serwaru District, Southwest Maluku Regency. So far, the Moa Buffalo has received the attention of President Joko Widodo.

“The previous president also visited this buffalo farm some time ago,” he said.

According to Jan, the Moa buffalo has export potential and is very good for development as a germplasm variety in Southwest Maluku Regency with a population of more than 10,000 in 2021 spread across 7 villages.

“The area of ​​grazing fields reaches 29 thousand hectares. Moa Buffalo has become a source of PAD and an increase in people’s income through live sales and in the form of frozen and processed meat (Jendeng, Shredded, Corned Beef and Sausages),” he explained.

Previously, Jan Maringka also held a Supervision Coordination Meeting (Rakorwas) in the Ambon area, Maluku. This activity was attended by the Head of the Maluku Regional Police, Inspector General Lotharia Latif, Kajati Edyward Kaban, and Maluku Provincial Government officials who were supervised by the local Food Service.

He said, all of these activities were able to strengthen the food control function with Law Enforcement Officials (APH). In addition, said Jan, this meeting is expected to be able to strengthen food security so that people’s needs in the next few years can be fulfilled.

“The point is we want to monitor, evaluate and strengthen synergy in realizing national food security. It is hoped that with this coordination we will be able to explore regional potentials and increase domestic exports,” he explained
