Gorontalo (ANTARA) – Head of the Gorontalo Provincial Health Office, Yana Yanti Suleman, said Thursday that 16 new cases of COVID-19 had been found in the area as of November 23, 2022.
The active cases are spread across four people in Boalemo Regency, four people in Gorontalo City, three people in Bone Bolango Regency, two people in Gorontalo Regency, and three people in Pohuwato Regency.
With the discovery of these new cases, the number of residents who were exposed to COVID-19 in Gorontalo Province from the start of the pandemic to November 23, 2022 was 14,037 people, consisting of 13,530 people who recovered, 491 people died, and 16 people are currently undergoing treatment.
Responding to this, Acting Gorontalo Governor Hamka Hendra Noer said there was no other way to tackle the current spread of COVID-19 apart from intensifying vaccinations.
“Especially for the second and third doses of vaccination, it must be boosted again. We must jointly reduce the number of active cases and try to get Gorontalo back to the green zone or zero cases of COVID-19,” he said.
He proposed that the implementation of the COVID-19 vaccination could be integrated with cheap market activities, which the Gorontalo Provincial Government would hold until the end of 2022.
Another suggestion is to hold it independently by each forkopimda and district/city government.
“We ask for the help of all parties so that vaccination coverage will increase,” he said.
Kapolda Gorontalo Inspector General Pol. Helmy Santika stated that his party is ready for vaccination services, so that the community’s communal immunity against COVID-19 is formed.
“We are ready to collaborate in providing vaccination services to the community. There are 116 officers who can help,” said the Kapolda.*
