JAKARTA, KOMPAS.com – The exploration of a coalition that the Nasdem Party, the Prosperous Justice Party (PKS) and the Democratic Party continue to promote has not found a common ground.

Nasdem Party DPP chairman Willy Aditya said the progress of cooperation was close to 80 percent.

However, the negotiation process still takes time because the three political parties have never worked together.

“Of course this can’t be forced marriage, right, of course the development process” chemistry in two domains, the realm between parties, and the realm between candidates (candidates) and parties,” he explained at the Senayan Parliament Complex, Jakarta, Monday (19/9/2022).

Meanwhile, contacted by Kompas.com, Thursday (22/9/2022), PKS spokesman M Kholid said that one of the things that had not yet been agreed was the determination of the candidate for vice president (cawapres).

“So the homework is about who is the vice president? Each party has the right to submit its aspirations,” he said.

On the other hand, the Coordinator of the Spokesperson for the Democratic Party, Herzaky Mahendra Putra, wants the proposals for the nomination of the Democratic Party’s presidential and vice presidential candidates to be heard.

He admitted that his party had not yet chosen the figures for the presidential and vice presidential candidates, because the mechanism was the authority of the Democratic Party High Council (MTP).

Suggestions for vice president

Kholid revealed that there are 6 names being considered as vice presidential candidates if PKS, Nasdem Party, and PKS form a coalition.

PKS itself proposed three names, namely former West Java Governor Ahmad Heryawan, former West Sumatra Governor Irwan Prayitno, and MPR Deputy Chair Hidayat Nur Wahid.

“Of course we also respect the aspirations of the Democrats proposed by AHY (Agus Harimurti Yudhoyono),” he said.

Meanwhile, the Nasdem Party, continued Kholid, proposed the Commander of the Indonesian National Armed Forces, General Andika Perkasa, and the Governor of East Java, Khofifah Indar Parawansa.

Kholid emphasized that the three political parties agreed to carry the presidential and vice presidential candidates who had the highest chances of winning.

“The one with the most potential wins, the one with the most capacity to lead the nation,” he said.

Mutual respect

Herzaky said that his party appreciates and respects the mechanism for determining the presidential and vice presidential candidates for their two potential partners.

However, he also wants PKS and Nasdem to have that attitude.

“We value and respect the independence of the mechanism for determining presidential and vice presidential candidates from each political party that is friendly to prospective coalition partners. We hope, as well as the attitude of political parties that are friends with prospective coalition partners towards our candidate pairs,” said Herzaky to Kompas.com, Friday (23/9). /2022).

However, he admitted that the Democratic Party had not yet determined the candidates for the presidential and vice presidential candidates.

The reason is, the Democratic MTP chaired by Susilo Bambang Yudhoyono (SBY) has not yet been hit.

“Only, there has been no official decision from the MTP PD as the body authorized to decide with whom we are in a coalition and which candidate pair we will carry,” he said.

Herzaky did not deny that there were still many differences from the PKS, Nasdem Party, and the Democratic Party.

This does not become an obstacle because the characters focus on the existing similarities.
