The South Sulawesi DPRD (South Sulawesi) asked the South Sulawesi Education Office (Disdik) to accelerate the absorption of a budget of Rp 153 billion for the construction of new classrooms and other important facilities in schools that have not been absorbed this year. If not absorbed, this budget has the potential to become more budgetary financing (silpa) and is considered to have an impact on the implementation of new student admissions (PPDB) next year.

“If this doesn’t work, it means we will face problems next year in PPDB and in the teaching and learning process of children. Approximately 153 billion. Much larger than Mattoanging’s (budget),” said member of Commission E of the South Sulawesi DPRD, Selle KS Dalle to secondsSulselFriday (23/9/2022).

Selle added that the amount of the South Sulawesi Disdik budget that had not been absorbed was considered worrying. So that his party called the Bureau of Procurement of Goods and Services (Barjas) to find out the obstacles that caused the project to not run.

“Because we are a bit panicked. After all, this Disdik’s potential for silpa is enormous and the activities that have the potential for silpa are activities that are directly related to actual problems, especially at PPDB yesterday. Lack of new classrooms, then laboratory facilities and so on,” he said.

Even though he was worried that it would be wrong, the Rp 153 billion budget was still approved by Commission E in the 2022 Amendment APBD draft. This is because the Education Office and the Barjas Bureau guarantee that this budget can be absorbed by the end of 2022.

“Yes, we have to. Because if not, how about next year we will be dealing with a number of complaints from parents whose children are not accommodated in schools or have been accommodated in schools but teaching and learning activities are inadequate due to lack of facilities,” he said.

Meanwhile, the Head of the South Sulawesi Education Office, Setiawan Aswad, said that budget absorption was constrained because there was a school construction project that failed to bid. So then it has to be re-planned.
