Indonesia will receive Dassault Rafale fighter jets in 2026. The 4.5 generation fighter aircraft will be received by RI after the purchase contract is officially effective.
“The first phase is 6 (Rafale units). The contract is effective as of September 9, 2022,” said the spokesman for the Minister of Defense (Menhan) Prabowo Subianto, Dahnil Anzar Simanjuntak, Thursday (22/9/2022).
The Rafale aircraft unit was imported about 48 months (4 years) after the effective purchase contract.

“The planes purchased by RI will arrive at the end of 2026,” said Head of Dispenau Marsma Indan Gilang Buldansyah when confirmed separately.
It is known, Indonesia will buy 42 units of Dassault Rafale fighter aircraft. After 6 units were imported in 2026, as many as 36 other aircraft units will follow.
The Dassault Rafale is the most advanced fighter aircraft in the world and is included in the 4.5 generation fighter jet category. One Rafale unit is priced at USD 115 million (Rp 1.6 trillion).
Based on the Dassault Aviation website, this aircraft has a length of 15.3 meters, a wingspan of 10.9 meters and a height of 5.3 meters. The plane’s empty weight is almost 10 tons (22 thousand pounds) and the maximum weight for flight is 24.5 tons (54 thousand pounds).
Its internal fuel capacity is 4.7 tons (10.3 thousand pounds) and its external capacity can reach 6.7 tons (14.7 thousand pounds).
The aircraft is powered by two SNECMA M88-2 engines and can accelerate at a maximum speed of 1.8 Mach or 750 knots (1,389 km/h). This fighter jet can fly a maximum at an altitude of 50 thousand feet or 15.24 km above sea level.
