Samarinda (ANTARA) – The East Kalimantan Provincial Government fully supports President Joko Widodo (Jokowi)’s policy of converting official cars in the government environment using electric power.

“We must support the direction of the President,” said Deputy Governor of East Kalimantan Hadi Mulyadi in response to media questions regarding President Jokowi’s instructions regarding electric vehicles for daily official vehicles within the government, both at the center and regions in Samarinda, Friday.

However, the former legislator from East Kalimantan and Senayan continued, the most important thing is to prepare supporting facilities, such as electricity charging stations.

In addition, Hadi continued, the government must collect data on official vehicles belonging to local governments that currently exist. “There must be valid data so that it is not redundant, not to be used properly, just because it is converted to an electric car,” he said.

He admitted that there had been no specific discussion on the plan for the transfer of government-owned official vehicles, in particular the discussion regarding how many vehicles owned by local governments (provincial, district and city) to be replaced with electric cars, including discussions on the budget required for the procurement or purchase of vehicles. electricity, as well as the provision and construction of supporting facilities.

“What is certain is that it is gradual, yes, the government is doing it gradually,” he said.

Previously, President Jokowi gave instructions to the central and regional governments to use electric vehicles as daily official vehicles.

Jokowi’s order is contained in Presidential Instruction Number 7 of 2022 concerning the Use of Battery-Based Electric Motorized Vehicles as Operational Service Vehicles and or individual vehicles for Central and Regional Government Agencies.

This instruction was officially issued by Jokowi on September 13, 2022 and has been officially implemented since the first time the regulation was released.
