Bisnis.com, JAKARTA – PT Japfa Comfeed Indonesia Tbk. (JPFA) reported that President Director Handojo Santosa passed away on Sunday (25/9/2022).
“On September 25, 2022, Notification of Death of the Company’s President Director,” wrote Maya Pradjono, Corporate Secretary of Japfa Comfeed, in an official statement, Monday (26/9/2022).
Handojo Santosa in Japfa’s official website is a Cypriot citizen, 58 years old, domiciled in Singapore. In 1997, he was appointed as President Director, based on the Annual General Meeting of Shareholders. Handojo Santosa is responsible for leading all strategic and operational activities of Japfa
Handojo Santosa joined Japfa in 1986 as a manager in the Vegetable Oils Division in Tanjung Perak, Surabaya, responsible for the day-to-day operations of the division. From 1989 to 1997, Handojo Santosa served as Vice President Director of Japfa.
Handojo Santosa is the majority owner of Singapore-registered Japfa, which indirectly runs the food business, citing Forbes. This poultry company produces protein staple foods, milk, and packaged foods.
Japfa sells fresh milk in Indonesia under the Greenfields brand. Private equity firm KKR owns a 10 percent stake in Japfa Comfeed. In July 2020 Japfa sold a 25 percent stake in the Chinese dairy unit AustAsia Investments for US$254 million to Japanese dairy giant Meiji.
Handojo’s father, the late tycoon Ferry Teguh Santosa, founded the diversified Ometra group in Indonesia in 1959. The group went bankrupt during the 1997 financial crisis.
Handojo, who focused on Japfa Comfeed, managed to survive the crisis. In 2014, he listed Japfa’s shares in Singapore, making Japfa Comfeed in Indonesia a subsidiary. Handojo Santosa has a net worth of US$735 million or around Rp11 trillion in 2020, making him the 38th richest person in Indonesia.
